5 Common Office 365 Problems (And How to Fix Them Fast)

Office 365 is an excellent tool for email, documents, and teamwork—but like anything tech-related, it can sometimes misbehave. If you’re in Springfield, MA, or Enfield, CT, and you’ve run into issues with Outlook, Word, or OneDrive, you’re not alone.

Here are five typical Office 365 issues and some simple steps you can take to resolve them.

1. Outlook Won’t Open or Sync

The problem: Outlook hangs, won’t open, or isn’t pulling in your latest emails.

Try this:

  • Restart your computer
  • Check your internet connection
  • Close Outlook and restart it in Safe Mode (hold Ctrl while launching Outlook)

If it still won’t load or sync, the issue may be deeper.

2. Emails Are Missing or Going to Junk

The problem: You’re not getting important emails, or they’re ending up in spam.

Try this:

  • Check your Junk Email folder
  • Review your rules and filters in Outlook settings
  • Add important senders to your Safe Senders list

Sometimes it’s just a matter of adjusting a filter or whitelist.

3. Can’t Log In or Forgot Password

The problem: You’re locked out of your account or stuck in a loop with password resets.

Try this:

  • Use the “Forgot Password” link on the login page
  • Make sure Caps Lock isn’t on
  • Double-check that your recovery email or phone number is up to date

If you’re using two-step verification, ensure your device is nearby.

4. Office Apps Keep Crashing

The problem: Word, Excel, or other Office apps keep closing or showing error messages.

Try this:

  • Close and reopen the app
  • Run Office Repair from the Control Panel
  • Make sure Office is up to date by going to File > Account > Update Options

Crashes can be caused by corrupt files or missing updates.

5. Can’t Access Shared Mailboxes or Files

The problem: You can’t open a shared inbox or shared OneDrive folder.

Try this:

  • Log out and back into your Office account
  • Ask the owner to re-send the sharing link or confirm your access
  • Refresh your permissions by signing in through office.com

Sometimes you need to reconnect the account.
