How I’ve Helped Customers in East Longmeadow
Two recent calls, described the way they happened.
Local and Cloud Backup Solution for an East Longmeadow Business
A business near the East Longmeadow Rotary had a frightening moment when an employee accidentally deleted a folder containing important business files. Fortunately, the files were still in the Recycle Bin and could be restored without any data loss. Although everything turned out fine, those few stressful minutes made the business realize how vulnerable its important information could be if something more serious happened.
That close call prompted a call to Bob's Computer Service to evaluate their existing backup system and implement a more reliable solution.
After assessing their needs, I installed a network attached storage (NAS) device for local backups and helped configure cloud backups for an additional layer of protection. Having backups in multiple locations meant the business would be better prepared for accidental deletions, equipment failures, or other unexpected problems.
Just as importantly, I tested the backups and performed test restores to verify the files could be recovered when needed. After all, having a backup doesn't mean much if you can't restore your information when something goes wrong.
By the time I finished, the business had a much more dependable backup system and greater confidence that its important information was protected. What started as a scary few minutes became an opportunity to address a potential problem before it resulted in serious data loss.
Restoring Business Scanning After a Windows Permissions Problem
A business off Shaker Road in East Longmeadow relies heavily on scanning documents into shared network folders throughout the day. One morning, employees discovered they could no longer scan documents to their usual folders, disrupting an important part of their daily operations.
When I arrived, I began troubleshooting the scanner and its connection to the office computers. Although it initially seemed like a scanner problem, I found that Windows folder permissions were preventing scanned documents from saving. The issue had appeared following a recent Windows update, but the scanner itself was functioning properly.
After identifying the cause, I corrected the folder permissions, restored scanning functionality, and tested the system to ensure documents were reaching the correct locations.
The employees were able to resume their normal workflow with minimal downtime. This was a good example of the value of on-site troubleshooting. What appeared to be a malfunctioning scanner was actually a Windows permissions issue. Being there allowed me to examine the entire setup, identify the underlying problem, and restore service quickly without unnecessary equipment replacements.
